Controlled Technical Writing gives technical prose one shared assessment procedure. Technical Documentation supplies page structure and source coverage. Both skills belong to Repository Knowledge. The procedure uses local Vale 3.24.0 and bundled rules. It does not send prose to Vale CMS or a hosted assessment service.

Draft from source

  1. Name the reader and the action that the page supports.
  2. Examine the owning code, contracts, commands, and current documents.
  3. Consult the repository glossary before a domain term choice.
  4. Write one action or fact in each sentence.
  5. Keep identifiers, commands, error text, and quotations exact.
  6. Separate current behavior from proposals and unknown results.
Use one name for each concept. Do not invent a first-person experience or a measured result. Keep an accurate passage when it already serves the reader.

Install the local engine

Use uv 0.12.9 or later and Python 3.12 or 3.13. Run these commands from a Slopsentral checkout. Choose a destination that does not exist.
The installer examines the pinned archive digest and bundled rules. It does not change PATH or global configuration.

Assess each changed artifact

From the same skill directory, supply explicit document paths and the glossary. Replace /path/to/slopsentral with your checkout path.
Keep the JSON report and input hashes. Resolve findings without changing facts or domain meaning. After an edit, assess the changed artifact again. If precision needs a flagged phrase, record its rule, location, and reason separately. Each document also reports IN_SCOPE, OUT_OF_SCOPE, or NOT_PROVIDED for terminology. An out-of-scope document gets prose measurements without glossary substitutions. Exit 0 means that an assessed report contains no automated findings. Exit 1 means that findings remain. Exit 2 means rejection or an incomplete result.

Examine reader understanding

Grade 8 and 25 words are advisories. A score does not prove accuracy or comprehension. Ask a fresh reader to identify the next action, prerequisites, and expected result. Keep actual reader feedback separate from an author’s simulated review. The assessment contract defines the report and its limits. The glossary reference describes canonical terms.
